SPECIAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS

•  LIEAP – Low-Income Energy Assistance Program This program assists residents with completing and submitting applications for fuel bill payment assistance during the winter months. LIEAP is usually conducted during the month of December.

 

 

• VITA – Volunteer Income Tax Assistance
• This program provides assistance with preparation with income tax returns for individuals or families with incomes of approximately $30,000 or less to ensure families receive all possible tax benefits and credits including the Earned Income Tax Credit and Child Tax Credits.

 

 

• COMMUNITY NEEDS ASSESSMENT
• In conjunction with Wyoming County Family Resource Network, MountainHeart conducts a comprehensive Community/Family Needs Assessment every three years. This assessment helps agencies and organizations gain valuable current statistical information on the condition and needs of Wyoming County families. To download the

• PARTNERS IN PREVENTION
• In an effort to reduce child abuse, neglect, and school violence in Wyoming County, the Wyoming County Family Resource Network leads a team of local professionals who provides training sessions to local school children about the ABC's of child abuse, neglect, and school violence prevention.
• The ABC's includes: “Awareness” training to children pre-school age through third grade, “Beginnings” which encourages a safe and abuse-free life for fourth through sixth grade students, and “Choices” which encourages positive choices for seventh through twelfth grade students. The team also provides mandated reporting training to area professionals.
• This Partners In Prevention Team is funded through Prevent Child Abuse
• West Virginia www.preventchildabusewv.org and includes members from:

 

 

•  MountainHeart Community Services, Inc.,

•  Wyoming County Schools,

•  Wyoming County Prosecutor's Office, and

•  Wyoming County Department of Health and Human Resources.
